Note: originaly gay was used for both genders... now people use it only for men...
Is like homosexual is used for both genders... but because women have their own word, lesbians, people now use it more for men...
When I was young the world gay was used for both genders in my country...

yeah but we arent talking about that. gay as a meaning of sexuality has been used for both men and women. eventhough its mostly used for men now, it is STILL an umbrella term used non-gender specific. i use 'gay' more than lesbian because its shorter and less gender specific so it feels more comfortable.
How is it confusing? Females can be homosexuals too. O-o
Yeap... and they have three ways to be called: Homosexual (general term), gay and lesbians... it is only many people think that homosexual or gay is the term for men and lesbians for women... but women is included in these three terms...
And also... it doesn't exist a (not insulting) term only for men (like lesbians are only for women), that is why it is confusing for people... I know why the term lesbians exist, but I don't know why there is no a term only for men!!!
