In Dorothea's interaction with Theon, she always looked sad or something and it's something he brought up and she reassured him, but it's rather obvious that it's not from her upbringing nor her surroundings. It's something to do with Theon and she never really says why but she also says it's not him, which from his POV it can be hard to believe when you see her interacting with other people normally and not shying away from physical touch.
