Yeah, unless the dude is in therapy and is receiving specialized mental health services that have knowledge of the disorder (especially since it’s a more rare disorder). it would be incredibly unlikely for the person to simply assimilate by the power of love (lol). This is even more true considering that people that even receive such mental health services may not even be diagnosed first with DID considering the symptoms can resemble other mental health symptoms of other disorders (borderline/bipolar depending on the other personality fragments’ actions). There’s also the fact that people with mental health issues tend to have comorbidity, aka coinciding disorders or illnesses such as depression and anxiety.

Ah finally someone said this! As much as I enjoyed how the story turned out, I can't help but feel the way his DID is simply resolved by love which apparently cures all is unrealistic. But we all love good endings right (me too), so I'm okay with it. It's just I hope people don't immediately assume that love can cure all, even the worse of psychological disorders :)

Sure, you’re definitely allowed to enjoy whatever you’d like. However the opposite does exist at the same time: people are also allowed to dislike things as well. Not to mention, applying my degree to whatever media I read actually helps because I know when I’m seeing red flags that may not be so obvious to others (not that it fully applies in this circumstance). Believe it or not, there are people that actually fall for these topics without any sort of doubt about the logic so it always helps to have at least someone who points out the things that are unrealistic. No doubt there are teenagers/younger people who have not had access to research that in turn DO have access to this type of media, so I don’t see anything wrong with providing the realistic advice to them. As someone who likes to question the media that they read, I feel no shame using my psych degree because I worked hard to have that knowledge. If you would like to not question whatever you read at all, go ahead. It’s fully within your right (●’◡’●)
I kinda knew they would assimilate since I saw the tie to a personality disorder, but that doesn’t stop me from being disappointed. As someone that’s working towards a psych degree, it’s super unrealistic, but not even in a satisfying way if that makes sense. I’m not saying that stories need to be 100% realistic all the time, but if the story’s main conflict is about mental health, you’d think they’d do more research /: I was kinda hoping they’d be different and keep the second personality (if they wanted to be interesting, have him take over although that’s not exactly the ideal for real life situations) but alas. Literally reminds me of every kdrama I’ve seen that has DID where they make the second personality more interesting(not necessarily better) or more appealing and then they realize they have to backtrack and suddenly show more of the “OG” personality bc they want them to assimilate for their rainbows and unicorn ending…
