He only chooses him because Rafael is omega and suitable one to marry, basically Kropp in first life chooses stable life, an omega wife instead of scandalous relationship with Arok, an alpha at that time. He purposely shows Raphael off to Arok just to taunt him. I think that what really pushes Arok off the edge.

Klopp hates Arok for being a monster killing his wife and unborn child but before that, he lusts after him. Klopp's like the Frollo guy in the The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, blaming Esmeralda for making him sinned or wanna sin (because Klopp want to love Arok). In the second life, you will see it clearer, they're kind of soulmate, so bound to love each others.

And speaking of these two, there's gonna a whole to experience again. Kloff fell for Aeroc at first sight. But he was in denial and stuff. And also kinda liked to provoke Aeroc. Now that he dead after all his sadism he gonna go insane. And both of them, Kloff and Aeroc will have their own parallel regressions. And a new pattern of story will start. But I assure you Kloff is gonna pay for HELL. And everyone's gonna LOVE it!
the story telling is pretty good. the only part that i don't get is how the black haired guy out of nowhere has an interest on the protagonist (around the end of series), like isn't his character revolve around the fact that he's on a revenge for his dead husband?
