I have a feeling she doesn't actually have schizophrenia. it's what her husband wants her and others to think. Jihwan's dad is very manipulative and is trying to convince yoojin as to why she must stay with him.
The mother's being locked up inside the home for maybe 6+years after she gave birth to Jiwan. She wants to leave/divorce but the father doesn't allow that. So she can't step foot outside home. That can drive anyone insane.
But is his mother really sick or they are faking it to keep her locked up?
If she is really mentally ill then it is not his father’s fault. Maybe she is a danger to self or others so she has to be indoors. Like when she was strangling a 7 yrs old jihwan ╥﹏╥
