Yes, we can't always have what we want. But giving up doesn't mean we'll be happy either. It would be all too easy to just choose the safe route. To just choose the person who loves you for who you are. But what if you don't like the person that you are? By choosing a person who loves you when you don't love yourself, you are basically choosing to be someone who you don't want to be. That in of itself can be even worse. Which was basically the choice that the MC made. He deny his feeling and because of it, he's lived a life that he didn't want. Now, in the end, he can't help but constantly look back to what things could have been.

But, yeah, it makes sense, too, that maybe the MC's choice was the black-haired boy to start with.
Ugh, idk. If you could choose both, then choose both. But that's not possible and right. So, maybe, go for someone who makes you feel the real you. Someone who trusts and love you. Sometimes we can't always have what we long for.
