I agree, and while I also understand why he treats Etienne the way he does, Etienne isn't his mother, and he doesn't deserve to be treated like that. It's a sad reality a lot of people go through. I was just reading on Reddit about this kid who felt hated by his mother all his life come to found out he was a rape baby that was only born because his mom thought he was the child of her husband, and her husband disapproved of getting rid of him. They're both victims, and I hope they at least come to a point where they can (meaning the emperor) can be amicable.
But dont you think he made himself the victim? Like the empress said, if he made his stance clear from the beginning, for instance i dont like the empress blah...blah then the empress would have married another brother and not him. But he wanted power so he married the empress and after getting the throne, does not care about the empress at all. Oviously the empress was also fault for forcing herself on emperor. So literally both of them share an equal blame with emperor being the one who started everything and the true victim is the prince who is paying for both their mistakes. Poor prince, dad does not want to see him and mom did not even wanted him born. Like he had any say in this.

Thats what i said the empress is at fault for forcing herself on him. But killing the brothers, she killed the brothers of emperor so that he could have the throne. Where is world you do something that does not profit you? So they share the blame but empress in unredeemable because she literally raped the emperor which no one deserves. But this could have been if they did not marry each other/ after marriage maintained a respectable distance and not just ignore one another. But i dont mean what empress did is okay, she is trash but emperor is no victim. Victim is prince.
I don’t think it’s that easy to stand up to someone that literally raped you and also murdered your family members like he avoids her cause he truly fears her
She never left room for him to give distance he never had a choice in that she forced her self on him in every aspect she literally took over his kingdom
That’s so true which is why I can’t him and how he treats etienne like it’s sad but I understand and for him his abuser is still in his life
