I agree with you that MC is delusional but nothing other than that , since he was a child, he was abused by his father, the person that should be his support in life ,The MC kinda devlope a mechanicme to save himself from all this hurt by shutting his emotions every time he get hurt by lying to himself that everything would be okey afterwards(which not right), and that is why he accept what thoes trash do to him (and he also scared from them physically and Financially it's was stated in the novel several times ,the MC could do nothing to protect himself even if he tried they either overpower him physically or threaten him or manipulate him). Also, the Mc is not at his full mental capacity from all this abuse that he get since he was child , this will become more clearer in the coming chapters. (I hope you understand my point sorry English not my first language)
