I think i can kinda understand why the uke keeps pretending he doesn’t see the ghosts. In our culture there’s a saying that if you purposely ignore the existence of the supernatural then they won’t have a choice but to let you off. He’s probably doing that but it looks like it’s not working as well as he hopes
