REAL, I thought her telling off those girls at the festival for flirting with him was gonna be part of her being more assertive but I really can't wait until she gets to the point where she doesn't let him walk over what she wants.
Both of them have communication issues but Riftan doesn't really help most of the time because he kept her in a cage and prefers her to be just on his bed (for safety and horny reasons). He makes Maxi feel like she would never be able to reach her dreams. He was not abusing her physically but mentally he was downgrading her. Ruth and Princess Agnes were people who actually helped her growth. They were probably created with that purpose in mind. I just thought that it would be better if Riftan's bluntless rubbed off on Maxi and made her open up too.
