    It's not yaoi. It's shounen-ai.

It's not yaoi OR shounen ai. It's neither. Stop labeling everything some made-up term (hint hint JP people don't use either of those.....) just because it's got guys falling in love with guys. It's just ROMANCE. You don't label a guy/girl romance as HET romance do you? No it's just billed as a romance. Same thing here.

Those terms originated in Japan. Japanese people use “BL” (Boys Love) nowadays, but “yaoi” and “shounen-ai” are real terms, even if they are currently just used outside of Japan. And if I'm talking about manga genres, I'm going to use manga genre terms. I actually do use the term "het romance" just as much as I use “gay romance” (which is all the time). When I want to make a distinction between malexmale romance manga with and without sex, I'm going to use the terms that connote/denote such. Yes, it is romance. Yes, it is gay romance. Yes, it is BL. And yes, it is shounen-ai.

Maybe your argument would make sense if this were Western fiction. But it's Japanese manga, so yeah. Gonna use Japanese manga terms.
