Oh yeah it’s been there since its conception. I’m doing my PhD about BL and its online communities, in Chinese fan/BL/romance spaces the “tsundere mentor figure mentors their future top” is as common and beloved as enemies to lovers is in the West. To me this series basically made itself obvious from the get-go but I’ve been doing research for so forgot that this isn’t an obvious trope to most in western spaces lmao
see I picked up that their relationship was BL leaning very early on and everyone else who knew commented that and people were like “NOOO they just father and son” like now it’s right in front of y’all so I can finally say we was right, we’ve known all along, and we told you so (if you knew you know who you are)
