To understand what's going on lmfao. Like so far I get that they erased his memories so that the system doesn't see that they found each other and try to separate them. But like this story they are in is confusing lol

You not familiar with Cultivation/wuxia? If yes then I will try to explain. I am personally a fan of this genre

So wuxia/xianxia is basically set in ancient China.
There are these swords or martial arts teaching sects, where disciples join to learn under great elders. They "cultivate" to immortality, form a spiritual core and use qi/ki (kinda like mana, but only enhances body and blade, used to execute techniques).
Now here the genre wildly varies author by author.
There are a some set sects majorly used like the Shaolin, Mount Hua, Wudang, Beggar's sect etc.
There are two factions, the justic(orthodox) and the evil faction (the demonic cult)
There are various soul/spirit core stages in cultivating to immortality, sometimes making a core itself makes you immortal
There are spiritual roots in people's bodies (kind of like your talent. How big your root is, what element it is)
There are Heavenly tribulations etc etc
    It's a hugely varying genre
If you want to read something like this, try Return of the Mount Hua sect
    Wandering warrior of wudang
Basically, there are thousands of Chinese novels of this genre
