yeah, basically.... he's only retaining a human form and conforming to the moral standards of human society only because he wants to stay beside yoojin. he's basically suppressing his true nature (which is why his flames are toxic black right now- they'll become blue in a later arc- that arc also made me cry, but i digress). if he gave in to his instincts, he would consume everything in his flames, including yoojin and also himself. but like, as a love language lmao fire elementals are different from other elementals in the sense that they burn very bright but very fast. they consume everything and themselves, and it's the most liberating way for them because it's in their nature.
yoohyun is an anomaly became he decided to accept the love yoojin gave him and let it change him. "to love is to be changed" really holds true in a literal sense here (〒﹏〒) yoohyunie is so. full of love. he saw his hyung give everything to take care of him and was like "oh ok i will love you till the end of time now".

yes ! even amongst born s-classes he's an anomaly. it's with very specific conditions that yoohyun exists as he does now. for one, it was important that the yoojin who gave up on everything for yoohyun, including the love and safe upbringing of his parents, was also a kid. he wasn't a grown up older sibling doing it out of guilt or responsibility, he just innocently and unconditionally loved his little brother. and the moment yoohyun decided to accept that love, he went against his very nature as a pure fire elemental being. whatever yoojin tells him is basically his standard for how to live. you can say he was formed around yoojin as his core of being, fabric of his very world.
