I had the same feeling! I was so happy reading it then these fucking panels appears, sadly it's common for asiatic works.
It's a shame really, because lately in asian media I've been seeing much better representation of poc and even if it's not always the best, it usually isn't this blatantly racist
The. Racist ass depiction of the one black person what the fuck. I'm not even gonna touch on the people defending it rn I don't have the energy for it, but honestly those few panels put a damper on the entire manga. There's just no excuse for that kind of racist charicature, especially in the modern day. If you want to have arguments go to other comments, and if you want to educate yourself on why this is blatant racism then I implore you to go research the Jim Crow era of the US and the history of racist charicatures and archetypes and how they have been harmful for generations. Jesus Christ . And no I'm not saying the entire manga is dog shit because of the one drawing, I'm saying I PERSONALLY cannot see it the same or really like it after those panels. I don't care what you think about it so do not argue with me here
