Maybe it's because the love rival was being so forceful that the girl was taken aback but WHY!! ARE!! YOU!! JUST!! LETTING!! THINGS!! HAPPEN!! It's your relationship ffs only you have the say in it. I hated the thought that maybe she's really considering the other guy. Also, why does it need to have this sort of arc for her to just learn how to communicate her feelings to her bf (same w the bf but he's kinda more pitiful so im not gonna criticize him that much).
Also, the love rival... what was the author thinking of inserting an annoying guy like him who does not know how to respect boundaries. He srsly can't read the room. There are so many fishes in the sea and he chose to pursue the one that's taken wtf. He needs to have some sort of godlike redemption arc for me to accept him after what he's done.
Their problem could honestly be explored and resolved without the introduction of a rival love interest.
