some stories have a historical setting because they are supposed to, its what sets the vibe of the whole series. a lone traveler going on a difficult journey to find his purpose just doesnt feel the same in a modern setting. i miss the feeling i got when i read chapter 1 for the first time
it definitely started to take a different direction in the modern arc (and the future arc) I think it shouldve ended way earlier because i think now especially with the future arc the author started to steer really far from the plot. Its more of a shoujo manga now lol. its kinda a shame it was a good manga to me up until a little before the modern arc.
im sorry but the modern arc shouldve never happened. my first time seeing a manga that literally peaked at chapter 1 and went downhill with every arc
