I think the last thing we see of him being the dead look in his eyes is probably just the indication that this is and will forever be his life and what he's resigned himself to :( he's going to keeper going on this path that keeps him from being miserable bit ultimately stifles Jim and takes away his chance at true happiness and it's a sacrifice he's willing to make
i’m conflicted. at the same time i like that the ending was a little open ended and left us with room for thought, yet at the same time i wish we could’ve seen more into kirino’s life and seen their future selves a bit more
