yeah,... 60-80's manga tend to be ongoing for DECADES.. some even drop due to the great senseis become too old to keep drawing or sadly not in this world anymore, some just don't even want to bother with their manga anymore due to personal problems and so on. I'm just glad that Nakamura sensei still decide to finish this manga and don't decide to drop it. 21 years already... If you didn't told I won't evem know how long have I been follow this manga... Right now Skip beat is the most promising manga which might be able to be finished. I already drop my hope with Glass Mask and HxH (●￣(ｴ)￣●)
It's not just this but there are lots of well know mangas that are still running more than a decade. Majority were shounen mangas. This a monthly released manga so I'm not that surprised. Plus sensei's health is an issue. Let's all pray that she can still finish this with the pacing she wanted. I don't want for her to rush it and deliver the ending she didn't want just because her readers said so.

New reader here and I did some research about the anime. After watching the anime, I thought of reading the manga because I thought it's already done. And HOLLY MOLLY, IT'S STILL ONGOING?! And I just searched when was the first chapter released and IT WAS 21 YEARS AGO?!! (⊙…⊙ )
