It's definitely a happy ending, go for it man
It makes you cry because it's such a good story and well presented. There're parts that ARE going to make you cry, rage, want to punch a fucking wall and feel angry-disgusted from the bottom of your stomach (the kind of anger-disgust that makes you want to puke). The main story has a happy ending, but it's not as clear cut as just being described as "happy", there're aspects that you are going to have to analyze yourself to see if you're happy or not. I'm going to tell you that Tatsuya is literally THE biggest piece of shit besides this other bitch that pops up and that is probably one of the biggest issues with the ending of the main story. The side story has a bittersweet ending (more bitter than sweet), but you'll want to read it regardless, it'll make you upset but it's worth it.
