Well... they are either quacks or scared. The sad thing with therapy is that if you don't have the will to get better, they can't do much for you. For therapy to be effective, you have to acknowledge you have an issue and that you want to get rid of it. Therapy sounds a perfect remedy to mental health, but yah...
