I think it’s because he sold his mansion already and he’s also getting used to living in Ash’s house
I'm pretty sure Ash is waiting for him to make a choice(not to be pushy) and Karlyle's there being indecisive. If he wants to live in Ash's home with him full time, Karlyle needs to actively make a choice for himself. same thing with moving out.
His friend isnt being weird saying they need space and privacy. by real world standards a new relationship does. Although they've known each other for a year, they havent been official for long.
Obviously as readers we want all the fulff and romance of them staying together. but in my mind its extremely weird that Lyle feels like living 5 mins away is too far.
Yea he’s kinda indecisive in this matter. Later you can see even tho Ash wanted Lyle to live with him, he still decided to respect Lyle’s choice of moving out. And I don’t think taking an initiative is an easy thing to do, especially for a person who has lived most of their life to fulfill other people’s duty and wants like Karlyle. This is also one of his first times that he can choose to do what he wants so yah, things gonna happen. Besides Ash also hadn’t said anything about wanting them to live together, it is mentioned in the novel that Lyle sometimes get back to his family house too, so if they want to live together one of them has to take the first step. Karlyle is inexperience in love/ relationship, so i guess that’s why he decided to follow his friend’s advice who is also an experienced person in love, like Ash. I actually didn’t care much about the 5 min tho, like this is only fiction so I simply think the author just want to express Lyle’s care for Ash in a humorous way
BL codependence is wild by real life standards. Living 5 mins away is still too far... Whut?! But also he could just ask Ash to move in, why does he need to wait for things to happen, take an initiative.
