Nice guy doesn’t leave him officially, he just says to get a break but not officially broken up yet. The uke just took it the wrong way for a moment but nice guy assured him they aren’t breaking up, just a little break so uke won’t be so codependent on him.
Uke didn’t start getting abused by the mean guy, he has been abused way before. The mean guy cheated on the uke and uke was hurt.

Okay so what I think the plot should go like this: Uke cheats on nice guy with mean guy, nice guy gets mad and leaves him. Uke starts getting abused by mean guy and regrets hurting nice guy thinking he deserves the abuse and keeping his distance from nice guy. Nice guy finds out from the friend or somehow that Uke is being abused and can’t help that he still has feelings for him. Tries to find Uke but Uke runs away, not wanting to hurt nice guy again. Maybe fight between nice guy and mean guy and mean guy tries to claim Uke as his own in front of nice guy. Mean guy goes away and Uke goes back to nice guy, they both heal together.
