Well let's remember she was abused her whole life and told she was nothing up until her marriage where she again was relegated to some corner of the estate.
Her first thought is pretty realistic. Thinking that ppl only like you because of what you can do for them or by being useful(￣へ￣）
I mean no one acknowledged her until she won them over with coffee so it makes sense that she now feels that she has finally become useful to the Duke to the point where he likes her because how well coffee is doing
