That's not always true!!! My guildmates and I have been together for 5 years (though there's less of us actively playing now). We meet up every year to drink and talk about games and stuff! Online friends can be real friends too!
Agreed I met my very best friend on an online game back in 2014 and have known each other irl ever since and are basically like family at this point. I think it's just getting lucky on meeting good people.
Never ever make friends in games and don't even think about falling for some player in game it fucking hurt so much when they leave, NEVER DO THAT!!!! （￣へ￣）
