Airing my frustrations

I really had high hopes with this one when I started reading. If author's job was to make me hate the MC, they're doing amazing! I've always been a protagonist biased, even I endured the MC of Love or Hate & enjoyed the endgame couple but Ian? I was literally so proud of him when he confronted TJ and walked out like, yes to starting new and moving on! Then they had the audacity to pull that season finale, like how much do you hate your MC to butcher them and throw away character development? If author wanted to write a toxic relationship so much, what was the point of writing Jo? They wanted the drama so much it's lazy writing now. This is why love triangles are so hard to write, you risk destroying your characters ugh like I'm sorry I'm gonna be a hater.

Yep I agree with everything. I don’t think this is a good love triangle or has good character development at all. At this point I’m only hate reading to see how it ends. Would’ve been much better if they focused on one couple and stuck with it. Jo is unfortunately the second lead that is basically used to drive a wench and make TJ jealous to drive Ian x TJ. It’s pretty horrible seeing him being neglected and used by the author and Ian himself. Ian is my new hated MC. A genuinely unlikeable character because of his hypocrisy and wishy washy ness. I hope there’s a spin off with just Jo focusing on his own life and finding love by himself. Even if they make Ian and Jo end game, I’m just so disgusted by Ian’s actions and indecisiveness I’d feel unhappy. Ian doesn’t deserve Jo at all. Ian doesn’t care to change and likes his toxic situation truly, always running back to his ex. Just irredeemable and lacks depth as a character. I see no difference in character between season 1 and 2. I hope he doesn’t drag Jo down with him or Jo pine for him any longer.

Same, I'm curious how the author is gonna handle the ending for this one. It's like the author doesn't know the direction of the story and they did that season finale as a shock factor while sacrificing development & progress and now we're back where we started. Author made him a hypocrite & be indecisive which is just plain annoying. Why should the readers root for Ian? I'm def rooting for his downfall XD Atp I want Jo to be the 2nd ML and have his own love interest. Like Ian could live a thousand lifetimes and never deserve Jo, if they become endgame. They could give me a chasing arc but I don't know if I can even trust them to do it well :/

Agree with everything you wrote and if you hated the season 1 finale, you’re gonna hate the early chapters of season 2 even more.

I heard that the author is planning to make 4 seasons. That seems wild to me. I already can’t stand the season 2 opening, so the author is probably going to continue rinsing this whole love triangle with Ian fucking between TJ and Jo and I don’t think my mental health can handle such toxicity.

4 Seasons?? Is that really true author better write some actual good plot if they keep on with this drama which we are so tiredd or introduce some new characters so they can stop dragging Jo with Ian & TJ's bullshit or better yet start Jo's villain origin story XD

    Morinarin January 5, 2024 2:16 am

Ugh yes. Apparently 4. I want to drop this manwha but I’m just hate reading at this point. I don’t know how the plot is going to get better because right now whenever I get interested in the plot, unnecessary sex scenes from TJ x Ian just show up on my screen. We literally had 2 chapters of them have non stop sex with no plot to the story. This is why I hate love triangles because a lot of authors don’t know how to actually write good ones. They usually butcher it, and we’re witnessing first hand what’s that looks like from this manwha.

I’d hate it if they made Jo fall and be corrupted. He’s supposed to be an antithesis to TJ. If they made him villainous it would also just give TJ stans more reason to shit on him. They’re already talking shit saying they dislike Jo even when he’s hasn’t done anything wrong or be a red flag at all.
Whenever i see Jo he’s associated with light and sun, compared to TJ has a dark colour palette and associated with the gang and violence. I’d hope that Jo maintains his values and doesn’t swoop down to Tj’s level or obsess over Ian to the point of losing himself. Jo doesn’t need to compare himself to TJ and it’s sad seeing him insecure within these chapters. He needs to realise he’s not the one who needs Ian, but Ian is the one who needs Jo. I hope there will be a chasing arc from Ian’s side because at this moment, I don’t want Jo to pursue Ian or give him the time of day when he can’t show that same respect for him. He takes Jo for granted and I hope it’ll bite him in the ass one day.

You know damn well the author is writing unnecessary sex scenes as a distraction from the shit writing and people will eat it up. I've seen it many times lmao. I agree with love triangles, it's not a trope I love bcoz authors don't know how to write XD

Also yeah, I don't want Jo to be that bad. Let's be real, they only dislike him bcoz he's on the way of their TJxIan not because he did something bad. It's lazy writing on author's part. Also yess give me character development for Jo where he realizes he doesn't need Ian & it's the opposite. Oh if the chasing arc actually happens, I need 30+ chapters of Ian being pathetic, that will actually redeem this story. Unfortunately, I doubt the author can even write it well. Loving this discussion btw XD I really need a fellow hater to get through this lmao

    Morinarin January 5, 2024 3:02 am

Yes, I’m glad to see like minded people here. The fact that I know I’m not the only one crazy and mad about the downfall of this manwha is refreshing to see. I was really invested in the story and characters from season 1 and was looking forward to season 2, but I just became so disappointed that I’m angry. Idc if I’m a hater at this point.

I also dislike Ian as an mc. I dislike his promiscuity, indecisiveness, hypocrisy, and lack of development. I feel a large part of this falls on him too since he’s ultimately in between a love rivalry and has to choose or change yet does nothing to progress the story. I’ve gotten heat from Ian defenders/stans, and I honestly don’t care. From their point of view Ian can do no wrong, and they must protect him. I used to love Ian too and wanted the best for him, but after season 2 I really started to hate him and his actions. Even if Jo reaches out a hand to help him, he’s the type to pretend to want it but then go back to his old habits. He wants both cakes and to eat it. He doesn’t care to change and likes his toxic environment. I hope he stays with TJ, and Jo can move on and journey his life. If he keeps going back and forth not only will Jo stans dislike it, but also TJ Stans too.

This whole love triangle just plays with people’s feelings, and done so badly. Also I’m sure the author loves writing all these sex scenes because it sells. In my instance, I don’t mind smut, but when it’s done correctly. In this instance the story has a lot of potential but the author is giving us nothing and just serving us sex and thinks the readers will be happy. If you go on twitter and look up the wet sand hashtag it’s filled with nothing but TJ x Ian sex scenes, whereas I was hoping there would be reveals about the plot or possible Joseph appearance or explanations on the ending of season 1. But nope it’s just filled with sex. It perfectly fits the relationship of Ian and TJ. They can’t even have a normal conversation without resorting to having sex and it just says more about their relationship than anything else.

Exactly. I don't care who Ian ends up with, it doesn't change the fact that he's not a good character. I was literally rooting for him too until I realized he was just all talk. Him going back and forth is really shitty, people like him in real life are one of the worst.
Smut with good writing is still the best XD. Oh yeah I can't with twitter sometimes. From what I see, people like Ian & TJ because of "sexual tension". I gotta love the depth of this relationship huh but then again TJ is the kind of person you'd sleep with but not actually marry so... XD Also because it's a toxic pairing, believe me there are actually toxic pairings with good writing and a likable MC, there's Checkmate & Pawn's Revenge if u want that. Meanwhile, I'm gonna go read fluffy stories for awhile. This manhwa drains me#-.-)

    Morinarin January 5, 2024 4:20 am

Yeah the fact that he goes back and forth and knows that Jo likes him romantically just makes it worse. I’ve heard people compare Ian to real life toxic ex’s. If I was a friend of Jo, I’d tell him to cut off Ian for sure. Considering Jo wants a healthy relationship with Ian, he’s not going to get that with how Ian acts, because Ian is broken. He’s just going to be hurt in the future if he keeps pining over him. It’s hard to stop feeling for someone when you’re in love with them and I understand why Jo feels the way he does, but he’s gunna get hurt bad. Ian definitely doesn’t care about relationships and likes to sleep around for his pleasure. Also Ian has so much baggage with TJ that even if you’re involved with him, Jo is treated like the third wheel with Ian constantly running back to TJ and has make up sex and the cycle begins. it’s heart breaking to see. A lesson to people, please don’t go for the Ian’s in your life. It’s not worth it for your mental health.

And I don’t mind toxic relationships when it’s done well. If you’re reading BL it’s not hard to see there are a lot of red flags in the genre. In fact alot of red flags get their happy ending and win the guy despite acting shitty. They have their redemption arcs and fall head over heels for their partner. But at the moment, when I’m presented with two options of Jo (green flag) and TJ (red flag), I want to see the Jo overcome that hurdle and be the better change to Ian’s life. I’ve seen arguments about Jo being too innocent and lacks chemistry with Ian. I just don’t think he’s been given a chance to explore his relations with Ian as much as the other two have. TJ and Ian have had years to work on their relationship yet they’re just fuck buddies and toxic ex’s. I mean of course they have sexual tension when that’s all they’ve been doing their entire life. When I see Joseph I see a new life, hope and beginnings. When I look at TJ, it just seems gloomy, depressing and a cycle of abuse. Remember TJ has done a lot of despicable things in his life to possess Ian and keep him in the gang, because he’s obsessed with him. If this manwha was solely focused on TJ and Ian I would’ve overlooked his toxic traits and hoped for redemption, but when presented with a healthier option (Jo), you can’t ignore how depressing their relationship actually is. It’s made even more clear with a character like Jo to compare to and be the antithesis of that toxic relationship that TJ and Ian have going on.

Author definitely sabotaging Jo, their own character btw by barely giving him screen time and relevancy in the story. They added Jo to give some drama but is also afraid to give more to his character that he actually has a chance. If ur going to do a love triangle at least do it right! If ur gonna do a toxic relationship, commit to it! Write some actual plot. They know they could write a story about Ian moving on with Jo but they seem to like Ian & TJ so why bother writing Jo in the first place? Literally Ian is that toxic ex
