It's based on the himmel statue that eventually changed. The heroes' origin forgotten but became deified, so worshippers at the north create the idealized version of them lol.
So to the northerners, Frieren is a bombastic elf onee-san, Himmel is a stocky noble looking warrior(as frieren explained in new chapter, nobles in the north don't care about elegance and althat), Heiter,, i guess cus a saintess like figure symbolizing the goddess religion is preferred while Eisen is an idealized version of a dwarf warrior, very traditional looking warrior dwarf design.
