I hadn’t read up to that part yet (as you can see, I made this comment at chapter 273), but now I have on the other site.
And yeah. That is NOT great and I wish the author had a better method of getting Winston into Bai’s polycule when he was already doing so well. But like Yellow said, he was under the influence of a very powerful hallucinogenic venom that originally should’ve KILLED him, risked his life for her multiple times for her sake, respected her boundaries WHILE SOBER and kept a respectable distance as to not further aggravate the jealousy of her very volatile spouses and cause her more trouble.
Even post-rape, he accepted his punishment and exile from the tree, let the others give him the cold treatment, didn’t make any excuses for himself even though he had a rather good one, took full responsibility and has been doing his best to make it up to her ever since. We know he’s going to spend his entire life making it up to her whether she requests it or not.
I’m not saying it’s okay that he raped her. It’s not. I’m saying it’s different from her friend’s case where her ex-spouse KNOWINGLY took her to an aphrodisiac flower field to manipulate her into mating with him. Winston was put into a SUPER unfortunate situation where all the pieces fell into the bad places. Again, I wish the author just had someone enter a relationship with Bai on a more wholesome route; she slept with Parker when she only felt platonic with him because she felt obligated to and he was pushy; she was kidnapped and bonded with Curtis without much choice because she didn’t know how the world worked yet; Miur manipulated her for ages, betrayed her trust and nearly succeeded, Alvah’s a vain bully, Bluepool is pushy. I’m holding onto the only good boy this series has left.

Sometimes this series is so bad it goes back round to good. Bai is pretty stupid and self sacrificial that she’s always getting herself into danger. She’s kind to a HUGE fault which her mates love her for yet at the same time it makes them so seethingly jealous. (Seriously, can she stop wandering off on her own? This can’t be her character trait.)
All her bois are red flags except Winston; Parker is immature, petty and never respected her mating boundaries at the start. Curtis is just plain yandere with a short fuse (though thankfully he develops tolerance later), Shuu was so sad and desperate that he fell JUST FROM ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS, Miur was reckless and manipulative, Blue is whiny and pompous and Avah’s… Avah.
Bai is constantly working mediator as the boys she does end up with constant squabble, fight and backstab and stressed as to when the tensions might snap and one of them might actually end up killing each other and they almost never care. Winston’s the only one that minds where he stands, keeps a respectful distance so she doesn’t have to deal with the jealousy he’d invoke (though it does anyway because they are all insecure as hell), is helpful to her at the drop of a hat and asks for nothing but her companionship, whatever it may be. He’s so great.
I honestly skimmed the Manipulative Miur/Peacock Tribe arc because we ain’t got time for clueless protag. Skipped to the reveal when her boi Parker finally came to pick Bai up and his deception was revealed and MAN. WAS IT SATISFYING TO SEE MIUR SEEMINGLY DYING OF HEARTBREAK. WHAT DID YOU THINK WAS GONNA HAPPEN, MIUR? SHE SAID SHE’D ONLY ACCEPT YOU IF HER PARTNERS DID TOO. DID YOU REALLY HAVE HOPE AFTER BURNING CURTIS AND OBSTRUCTING PARKER?
