considering the armor upgrades they talked about its like definitely a korean mmo like Lost Ark. I know most popular mmos don't have upgrade systems where the materials are rare/expensive with the potential for your gear to be broken. There was a lot of general upset about that when Lost Ark was released in the west, and it was talked about this game as something that broke guilds and caused them to abadon the game. So its def not any of the suggested ones i saw so far
Pretty sure it’s Maplestory. The chibi characters, cutesy cosmetics, and the gacha face changer are from Maplestory. Also, the “berserker” class is a reference to the cannoneer class in Maplestory—a guy using a huge cannon as a weapon.
Def maplestory, it’s old but still super big in korea lmao, Netkama also has a few obvious of maple references it’s kinda funny xD

no fucking way, that's actually godawful. i can't see why anyone would want to play a game which has a probability for that. games like that would never survive on global.
it is one of the many reasons lost ark did poorly with western audiences. considering how difficult it is to get some of the stuff and the like, it also makes the manhwa's conversation about guilds just turning into ghost towns outta no where make complete sense too. The game, I believe, is largely just botting according to anyone who still engages with it past the initial release
ok random question but when these gaming themed bl stories talk about mmorpgs, what game do y'all think they're referencing to? cuz the fictional games in these stories are definitely more appealing than what I've seen out there
