I think the Emperor gaslit him into thinking it, because all I can remember is the Emperor basically just torturing him.
He went out drinking with a friend one night and someone spiked his drink and it caused him to become disoriented and violent and the Emperor showed up and calmed him down. Pretty sure that's what they were talking abt
