This scene isn't in the novel, it's completely original for the manhwa. So I'm just assuming he lives cause he's in the opening.

He is in the novel yes, and he's alive at the end but this scene doesn't happen. In the novel, I think Celphi is the only one that we witness going through the seizures or fever where they cough up blood.
