I forgot much of the novel because I just mtled it but every dream/ hallucination that Sejin sees in this second life are memories of his first life. Sejin died because he killed himself. Sejin and Ido's relationship in the first life is not good as you can see from the flashbacks/ dreams/ hallucinations of Sejin. Everything went down a spiral when Sejin stole data from Seonho which parallels the current chapter in their second life rn. Sejin was also r*ped, knotted and imprinted by Ido in the first life then afterwards Ido's older brother did the same to him, thinking Sejin was the "gift" Ido told him to get at his house during that time Sejin was in heat by coincidence and Ido's older brother is known to assault omegas. Sejin wasn't really the gift Ido mentioned but dumbass didn't think Sejin would encounter his brother that day. Then Sejin found out he was pregnant he wasn't sure who the father was since he was assaulted by 2 person in a short amount of time. Sejin got depressed and decided to kill himself using the gun in Ido's study infront of Ido. Ido also killed himself afterwards. Also the reason why, Ido took out the bullets of the gun and prohibited Sejin from entering his study in this current one . Then they get a second chance in life in which Ido remembers everything and tries to make up for him being a piece of shit in their first life. Sejin remembers part of their first life to dreams because Ido imprinted him before he died , when you're imprinted you the share memories and emotions of your partner.

-Ido did love Sejin atleast before they actually regressed, there were some moments between them in the first life, they were slowly warming up with each other, until sejin decided to hand over seonho data to haeshin due to fear that he will be abandoned by his family, the Jeongs if he doesn't do so. And unlike the second life, Ido and Sejin were married not just engaged. Ido also went into a spiral of depression and regret when Sejin killed himself. Ido keeps the gun as a constant reminder of his past misdeeds to Sejin and to treat him better in this life, he wants Sejin to stand for himself and choose for himself in the second life that's why they were also only engaged, not married like in the first life. It does have a happy ending though. They got back together in the end.
