He became obsessed with Reinhardt back in his last life when the crown princess discovered her fetish for hurting other people and tortured him while he couldn't respond because she was higher ranking. The crown prince also treated him poorly, basically just used him. When he was at his lowest he saw Reinhardt's royal portrait and started to worship her. When he died he went back to when they met in the story. So when they met he already knew who she was and was obsessed with her, he put on an act to stay close to her and recently he purposely let it slip that he went back and they've been talking about it
