Literally those tropes are annoying
honestly i feel like they just might... id say that the ML and FL's relationship was too smooth sailing yknow so i think in order to spice it up your hunch might be the case unless author san proves us wrong
just don't make it "memory erased" trope I hate stories like that. Just make him strongerrrr with his consciousness.
