THANK YOU! oh my god i 100% agree. people paint oushi as this completely black and white character when that isn’t the case at all. he’s deeply flawed and he’s fucked up a lot but the way i see it there’s never been ill-intent and it’s more so ignorance and immaturity that makes him the way he is
Damn this chapter got me when I did not expect it lol. It's not so much an Oushi apologia chapter (tho probably it feels like that because the new anime fans are pretending that he's the 3rd part of a love triangle - he isn't lol he is 0 competition).
But the chapter is very refreshing, and honestly I like Oushi as a character, he's a bit more nuanced. People can act like jerks and still have good intentions. He's an interesting character in many ways, because despite caring for her he held her back and acted the most ableist out of most people we've seen (except maybe her brother's ex gf but we didn't even get to meet her).
People, especially young like that, do fuck up. It's refreshing to see him grow and stop being static in how he behaves and sees the world. I found people cheering for him irritating because I was like uuuh what is even there to cheer for? lol
But I like this growth moment for him tbh. Good for him. :D I really like the characters this mangaka creates.
