I think it was both he didn’t want to lose his ability to control him, and that he actually liked him, but he just got comfortable with the situation of being chased that he couldn’t see clearly what his actual feelings were until they were challenged
idk how i feel abt watarun it seems like he actually liked our boy miki but it seems more likely he just didnt wanna lose him and his ability to control him but the story says he actually liked him
