There's nothing wrong in not feeling comfortable with traumatized characters, specially those who can trigger something in the reader. Not every story is made for everyone

It’s not that he has autism. He was so traumatised that it stunted his mental growth. With time he will get better.

Yeah I agree. I love Alvin, but ngl his relationship with Kinard does creep me out a lil since he's mentally still a child, esp since Kinard is 10+ years older to begin with. Kinda feels like he shouldn't be dating yet until he mentally matures a bit more.

We aren't talking about other ukes lol

We're talking about this specific one who is traumatized and currently trying to recover from it in a setting where mental health studies is non-existent.

I added the autism part 'cause a lot of people tend to infantilize adults ((like myself)) with autism 'cause our quirks and behaviors are "child-like."

Not saying you can't like Yessing for "being strong", but to infantilize an adult 'cause of their past isn't good either lol

Trauma was literally the first thing I mentioned lol

I added the autism part 'cause adults with autism ((like myself)) tend to portray "child-like" behaviors, thus being infantilized by weirdos on the internet.

OP said nothing about the trauma tho lol they skipped right into calling him "child-like" and made that the point of why they dislike him in general.

Yes but he doesn’t have autism. The difference is that MC will probably recover

I am not surprised they do not like that. Some people feel second-hand embarrassment more than others. I am one of those people and this is really hard to read. Not only because of the second-hand embarrassment but also the abuse MC went through.
