Riftan piss baby

I'm not gonna write some essay here cause I'm already too tired of this.
Y'all don't get the real issue. It's not wrong for Riftan to want her to stay at the castle since she's not a trained warrior nor really trained magician (which is his fault). It is dangerous for her to accompany to him the battlefield, he's correct.
However, he has no right to talk to her like that. He doesn't listen to her and she has absolutely no say in this to him. He's not even properly explaining her why he wants her to stay. Nor is he talking *to* her. He is talking down on her and he has done this since their relationship started. He is treating her like an object, a trophy he has won.
I am sure he truly cares about Maxi in his own way, but not about her as a person. If he would, he would include her in the decisions that are to be made. He would stop seeing her as a dress up sex doll.
And this has NOTHING to do with his past and trauma. It explains why he's so insecure but it does not prevent him from seeing Maxi as a person. He glorifies her and puts her on a pedestal. How can he even say he loves her when he barely knows her? And I'm not talking about him not knowing of her not actually being a pampered woman. He just doesn't see HER. Riftan has a vision of her and that's all he sees while she's nothing like that.

And that's why it's not okay how he's handling this war situation. The reason he doesn't want to her to go with him is wanting to protect her but he doesn't want this for her but for himself. It's all about how riftan feels and what he wants. You don't love a person if you disregard their feelings and thoughts.

You are not wrong. But the vision Riftan has of her has been a misunderstanding since the beginning. He thinks she lived her best life in Croyso Castle, from the start he thinks he's not good enough for her and doesn't believe she's happier with him than she was with her father. He tries to treat her as the noblewoman she is and compensate her for having to get married to him (a lowly knight). He doesn't see a noblewoman working or going on raids so he doesn't understand why Maxi is acting the way she is (she should be spoiled). In the end, he does everything with good intentions. If maybe Maxi actually corrected the misunderstanding and talked about her life and her feelings, maybe things could be different.

Like I said, his behavior towards her has nothing to do with that.
Also, regarding his vision of her.... that's exactly what I was trying to point out.
I understand why he had this vision of her initially, but now he's had plenty of time to get to know her. He THINKS she's a spoiled noblewoman but she TELLS him she wants to do things like heal the soldiers and train in magic. And that's the moment when it becomes clear how he doesn't know her and sees her as an object. Because his ASSUMPTION about her should be corrected.
"She may be a spoiled noblewoman but she WANTS to do this and that" is what he should be thinking. But he doesn't. Because all he sees is the image of her he's crafted in his head. Despite her telling and showing him that she wants something else. It shouldn't matter that he doesn't know her past when she tells him she wants something.
And if compensating her means yelling at her and forcing her to do things she doesn't want to then wow, I'd rather be punished.
