Bad past doesn't excuse murder. It's like when some guys say they cheated on their girlfriend because their grandma died. It's utter bullshit. FL had awful past, but she turned out to be best than everyone there. Hamil is just a messed up man. It felt like he was trying to make her sad with his last lines. Acting all good after all that shit he pulled.

I didn't say you're hundred percent wrong but You should not compare one person's past with another. One of the differences here is that FL has a good mentor while the other has a bad one. Let's say that he became BAD and GOOD in another way... STILL THE STORY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HYPE WITHOUT HIM. Those moments when FL's life brightened up because he always accompanied her.

i agree. i think its good to acknowledge that his backstory was well-written and that it made us understand his actions, but even more important to not let things such as pity and his good looks distract us from the evil things he did. its easy to forget that he killed hundreds to thousands of innocent people, and wasnt afraid to hurt the person he “loved” to feed his obsession
I am the only one who feel bad for cherry blossom guy? Idk...I think he's so lonely that's why he did that things (he's evil I know! I want to smack him for denying her mother) The villain became enemy because of the painful past... He's evil, he's frickin' cute, my type, lovable... But nothing beats the Protagonist FL I'm so gay for her
