i think a lot of people dislike kotaro because of the way he tries to act noble and righteous. when he shouted at satoko, he was acting like he had her best interest in mind and that SHE was the selfish one for not thinking about her family and the kirigaya name while shinpei is very sincere in the way he lives his life.
Some of y'all are saying that Kotaro is only doing that cuz HE wants to marry her but literally what about shinpei?? Hes doing the exact same thing cuz he wants her too, sure NOW she kinda likes him back (def imposter syndrome tho) but before that he was doing stuff she didn't want him to be doing, don't forget that first day Kotaro came he tried to drug and kill him when he promised her she can decide whether she wants to go or not.
And Kotaro is literally trying to help her more than Shinpei is, sure he likes her but don't forget again that her dream was to go home to her dad and get married for him, that's what Kotaro is trying to take her home for, shinpeis the one who won't let her go and she's too scared to go without him cuz of the "promise" she made with him and how he might kill himself Kotaro or even her if she doesn't go with him like Shinpei is just mad crazy
