In vol 2 in the novel, it was hinted that it had something to do with Aeroc’s estate. That it brings back lovers together.
Aeroc died confessing his love. The old Clough according to the spoiler, died in front of Aeroc’s tombstone, he cried his regrets and confessed his love to Aeroc. Before freezing to his death.
The starting point is the cedar trees where they both meet.
Aeroc who died first, returned first in an alternate universe and meets an Au Clough. That’s why Aeroc was spook when he saw Clough… his eyes were shaking. But his father’s strict teaching helped him mask his reaction, seeing that Clough doesn’t seem to recognize him played along.
When Clough dies, he also meets an Au version of Aeroc, but his reaction was crazier because he genuinely thought he was in hell and Aeroc went to greet him. He screamed and grabbed Aeroc.
It’s like a game with different routes.

Each novel is an alternate world. The first is rife with tragedy. The second is what you see, it will end differently. The third and so on. There is on Novela from the perspective of the children, it’s adorable.
