I mean i think it's different bc he's actually friends with the dude, and saying hurtful things could've just done more harm than good. Esp since like all the girls in the school who LIKE the ml were there. I do think it would've been better to just reject him plainly tho. Like a simple "sorry I have someone I like" type shit.

Ngl playing along with a joke confession is the worse thing you can do, from all my experiences of being different, you gotta make them a laughing stock of the crowd by insulting them like why would someone date them.
