possibly a hot take

am i the only one that likes the side couple just a tiny bit more than the main? like, yes, i love Yugun and Ian, they’re my babies, but Kyungmin and Mi-rye just slightly edge them out. maybe it’s because Kyungmin is my favorite character, but… i don’t know. Mi-rye, despite being annoyed with Kyungmin at first, slowly falls more and more for him and does outlandish things to get his attention, all the while being his usual tsundere self and it’s adorable seeing Kyungmin appreciate him for it. Omg I like them more too lol. There's something inherently dumb about Mirye and Kyungmin's relationship that it's adorable.

I see why people would like them more but in my case while I love the characters and their relationship, I have this thing with side couples where I kinda don't like that how out out of nothing(? their love appears. Like I just know that Kyungbin and Myrie were classmates but there are no moments that tell me when did they start thinking of each other.

It's a me thing so it's not big deal, they're still miles ahead the side couple of Robber X Lover who were also an Innocent X Assertive tsundere, but the innocent guy was literally a dog and the tsundere felt too mature and they ended up being a weird couple. I'm glad the author learned how to make the dynamic work this time, Myrie is hilarious and Kyungbin is more than a dumb and naive guy, there is no imbalance and it's what makes them awesome.

the thing about Mi-rye and Kyungmin is that their relationship did indeed come out of no where. not even Yugun or Ian knew they were dating - hell, even they thought they would never date each other. sometimes couples like that just… happen. something happens that causes you and another person to click and it works. which is why Kyungmin and Mi-rye work; they’re dumb teenagers in a relationship they never knew they’d be in, but they’re trying because they like each other and want to see where it goes. unlike Yugun and Ian who took their time to get to know each other and bond before dating.

that’s my two cents on it, anyway.

In their case it's like Myrie had already thought about Kyungbin that way a little and Kyungbin only got to it because of the kiss, but that's why I said it's a me thing xd side couples are always like this, their relationship just explodes in everyone's faces. I may resent it a little bit because there was this manhua that I loved with a lot of development for the main couple, and near the ending arc it appeared a character that was going to get his own story. To make it short, it seemed the author herself loved the explosive fast pace of that side couple and completely abandoned the main couple (gave them a rushed finale and not extras) to work full time on the side couple.

At least, Merry Marbling's author treats all the pairings as main, both couples get their own chapters and the stories are directly connected so there is not preference for either, and all fans get satisfied.
