I don't particularly know about whether Nick and Ash is already dating, but the possibility is they both haven't in relationship yet. Ash and Lyle 2nd meeting (which is the 1st meeting for ash, coz he doesn't remember about the new year eve yet) was the moment when Lyle confront Nick and Ash about their relationship. And it's ugly. That's why they actually had a bad first impression. You can say that Lyle is taking part in Nick and Ash breaking up

Can someone explain why Ash has a preference for Alphas? Did it explain in the novel? I know that he liked Nick and that Nick was a beta at first but he assumed he might be an Alpha or something like that. But does the novel explain if Ash likes Alphas over omegas for any reason?
