Y'all must have no empathy or something to be able to fully read detailed scenes of physical abuse for pleasure and self interest because clearly this went nowhere and was just an excuse to romantacize rape and abuse. And don't make it a matter of "I've seen worse" or "I can handle gore so XD" like nobody cares I promise that is not a flex. And don't make it seem like this meant more than it does. This is no psychological thriller. No author ever needs such detailed and constant depictions of physical/mental abuse and rape to enhance a story. All of that, if for the bigger message of the story is necessary, it can be done in a much subtler way. This was just for creeps to satisfy themselves. That man's relationship with his mother, however bad it is, or his love for the victim does not excuse his behavior at all. In any real life situation, I would hope he'd be put in jail for life.
