I don't like it either but I can understand Sohan. It's easier to say that when you're not in his position, Sohan only has him and his mother who also left him, with that and that lower than dirt thing using the "but we're family" guilt trip bullshit, I can understand him having a hard time rejecting him, even after all the hardship he had to go through because of him.
Agreed. As someone who has gone low contact with family its never easy whether there is guilt or not, separating from family will alway have conflicting feelings(doesnt help that he is so nice). And its 100% worst in collective type cultures like how many asian ones tend to be bc then it isnt just your family rasing you that way but your whole environment. Hell im pretty sure china has a law that requires kids to help their parents regardless of whether they were there or not (im aware this isnt china set but its simply to emphasize the point). I just hope he gets the backbone he needs or that our alien boy will help him. (｡•︿•｡)
I'm not sure it's an official law but it's definitely something that could get you frown up if you don't respect it, makes me think of this "unspoken rule" bullshit in my father's culture about the oldest child being the king/queen and the youngest being the blameless prince/princess, and if you're something in between well you can suck an egg.
In my very brief research its under Chinas Elderly Rights Law. The actual law says theyre required to visit or be at risk of being sued(hellva way to get your kid to like you). Theres multiple articles in the law it gets real specific on how theyre suppose to care for them; the law applies to 60+ tho. I think a lot of cultures have that unspoken rule unless the culture has gender preference, granted most do (╯⊙ ⊱ ⊙╰ ) urg either way or poor boy is in for some eztra heart break.
Ooh I was going to say good to know but it's kinda sad, like I understand that when you're old you want to have people there with you but making it an obligation is definitely not the way to go, without even mentioning deadbeat parents. Sohan going directly into a defeated "acceptance" of this whole situation is also very saddening, you can see how kind and soft hearted this boy is ╥﹏╥ like he didn't make scene when his good for nothing genitor called out his name like he didn't just abandoned him with all his debt when he was just a kid, nor when he kept repeating how grateful he should be for him because he basically baby trapped his mom with him. Like you can tell it's affecting him, which is pretty normal, but at the same time he's just taking it without arguing, it's painful ┗( T﹏T )┛
