As for cringiness (I theorise) it's probably to do with verbalising, I often find that a certain category of people melt at the explicit explanation of things into words while there is the other category that would muuuuuuuch more prefer glances as a way of communication
It could also be the amount of efforts the characters are putting on their tiny thing (accepting a hard request from a favourite author to get more books, going to school and dying your hair to meet a muse)
Or the page structure that gives the sense of window blowing with the blossoms in a shojo manga
All in all hard to explain, I need more people to fight over this to define what is and what is not cringe and how much of it is from personal development and taste
