I don't think you should be alarmed at all for someone lusting after someone else. Why would you be? Because otherwise you would be saying it should have been a crime for gay people to fall in love with someone of the same sex at a time when homosexuality was considered criminal and taboo, y'know...?
I feel like you either didn't read or just ignored the "small child" part of my comment. It's perfectly reasonable and NATURAL to be alarmed at someone nearing adulthood experiencing sexual desires for a CHILD in ELEMENTARY school. Also, I never said anything about whether they were the same sex. Obviously, since I'm reading something labeled "yaoi", I don't care about that. My being alarmed at something doesn't automatically mean I think it's criminal. Acts of pedophilia, however, are a crime. I know the manga is labeled shota", but I'm really hoping it doesn't go down that road.

I feel the same way. I read the mangaka's other and hoping it takes a similar route.
