she looks like a child

giving her big boobs and an adult age doesn’t help that. weird design when the author can draw two guys that look their age, why regress her physical appearance so drastically??

fr… this reminds me of the common isekai disease where a female character physically looks 12 but is somehow an immortal being or creature who’s over a thousand years old. and then she’s shipped with a man who’s disgustingly older appearance wise. great example of this: seven deadly sins with ban

Oh my god, it's so weird to me. Like, why can't she look like she's actually grown and not a 12 year old with an adult body. It's disgusting

exactly!! the author clearly understands facial anatomy of adults, so her design being a conscious choice is nasty work

Everything abt her is designed for this imo. It’s not just appearance, it’s her personality and actions too - i.e her almost childlike innocence (not knowing what mast*rbation is or at least never doing it; her very innocent disposition in terms of her goals and the way she treats others; her actions during nsfw scenes where she’s like “nooooo” “what’s going onnn” “how did it end up like this,,” I forgot the exact quotes but u get the idea; etc). Obv there are criticisms to make abt this argument, and it’s a fairly common case in jp smut manga that also links to purity culture (ie. the fl can’t express her sexuality and what she wants - she has to almost always be forced and be like “nooo stop!!~”, with the implication that <she doesn’t really mean no>).

Anyway what I said before is similar to the “Born Sexy Yesterday” trope, tho there are some differences

Whenever there’s female characters like this in smut manga I aaaalways see the defence that “nooo! she’s not a child that’s so offensive to me bc I look young like her and I’m an adult!” But that completely ignores the reality of how she acts too. This one in particular leans more into the BSY trope, in which the female character looks somewhat physically mature (eg. how the love interests see her chest and are like ur finally an adult!) but mentally they are childlike (innocence etc)

this was a great critique and awareness post!! i didn’t read this manga so your breakdown disgusted me even further with it. and yea totally agree!! japanese culture in particular is perversive when it comes to their sexual context, and is heavily influenced by problems within their society (violence against women and pedophilic ideals). bsy trope in media regresses women’s efforts so badly, and the manga pretty much lines up with it for how much she’s infantilized in sexual context… it even worse with her character design too

you’re hitting it right on the mark, about how people defend these designs while ignoring the traits and behavior that come with it?? it’s such a cop out so they feel less guilty when consuming stories like this. it’s also insulting to other petite adults who have insecurities about looking too young and people associating them with childlike behavior + the fear of being hit on because they look underage (T -T)

Because the author and a lot of cultural paradigms are gross. It's seen as "OK" to want a child.
