The fact of the matter is, since authors hate giving a toxic ml genuine character development or making them apologize and take responsibility for their actions, the fl has to be weak because there’s no other way for the relationship to be possible. If you want an extremely rigid and universally uncompromising ml, you have to make the fl flexible, compromising, and accommodating in equal or greater measure. The dynamic is off, which usually requires the author to chip away at the fl’s autonomy to make them fit in the relationship
